Adobe Offsetting: November 2015

Yesterday was a national holiday for the US and today is our biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday. If you’re planning to spend some money today, consider buying Scott Petrovic’s new book, “Digital Painting With Krita 2.9.” I did for November’s Adobe Offsetting. You can purchase the book in paperback for $35.99 USD or spend as little as $9.99 USD for the Kindle edition.

“Digital Painting With Krita 2.9” is 222 pages of learning about layers, brushes, masking, and brush engines. If you’ve never heard of Krita, it’s free and open source digital painting software that’s beginning to dominate the art community. You can download the first two chapters for free thanks to Krita. It gives you a taste of what to expect from the book.

This pocket- sized resource guide is aimed at beginners and intermediate users, helping new users understand the power behind Krita. Personally, I’m looking forward to learning more about the perspective tools and gleaning better techniques for masking.

Topics like using perspective tools have peaked my interest.

The book is endorsed by Krita and they are promoting the sale of the book on their own site. If you choose to purchase the book, make sure you use the links on this blog post or Krita’s page. The links give Krita a few dollars as part of Krita’s participation as an Amazon Associate.

Being someone that uses Photoshop daily, I find this book helpful for explaining Krita’s approach to workflow and tools which may at times be different than Photoshop.

All in all, it’s a well written and designed book that also helps Krita’s development.

Good luck shopping today and happy Black Friday!

  1. I followed your suggestion and I purchased the e-version of this book !
I hope some money will still go to the Krita’s foundation.
This is a nice and helpful book for those who, like me, are taking their first steps in Krita’s amazing world after years of Photoshop ^_^

    1. Hi Raph! Glad you like it! I think the book’s really well done and it’s a must for people interested in getting the most out of the software. Congrats on making the move to Krita from Photoshop. The more I use Krita, the more it becomes one of my standard tools.
